Stellar Completes Renovation of Tom Bush Volkswagen Dealership

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 15, 2019) — Renovations are now complete at the Tom Bush Volkswagen dealership on Atlantic Boulevard. Stellar, a firm providing award-winning construction management at-risk, design-build and general contracting services, was the construction manager for the modernization project.

This marks the latest renovation by the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships as they update their facilities to better serve customers.

Stellar once again teamed with R. Wulbern Architect, PA. The companies recently partnered to deliver two other successful projects for the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships: the Tom Bush Collision Center and Tom Bush BMW Jacksonville.

The newly renovated dealership features an open showroom floor and an updated exterior that aligns with the Volkswagen brand. Upgrades to the 10,000-square-foot facility included:

  • Creating a redesigned, comfortable customer lounge

  • Expanding the showroom to accommodate the new line of Volkswagen SUVs

  • Adding illuminated, exterior metal panel framing to create the branded VW “White Frame” effect across the front of the building

  • Reconfiguring the sales offices

  • Installing new floor tile, paint, glazing and millwork

  • Installing pre-wiring for electric car chargers to accommodate Volkswagen’s future offerings

The dealership remained open for business throughout construction, which first began in Fall 2018.

“We were glad to partner with the Tom Bush Family once again to create an upgraded space for their customers to enjoy,” said Tim Jenkins, Project Manager at Stellar. “This forward-thinking facility is designed to serve the Jacksonville community for years to come.”

“As one of the few remaining locally owned automotive dealerships in Jacksonville, we are pleased to partner on our third project with another Jacksonville-based firm,” said Megan Bush Del Pizzo, Vice President for the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships. “The Stellar team shares our values, which shows in their ability to deliver another amazing construction project. The Volkswagen renovation exceeds our expectations, and we could not be more pleased.”

Recent Project History

This project is the fourth phase of recent efforts to modernize the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships’ various facilities. The first three phases included:

  • Retrofitting the old Champions building into a new state-of-the-art Collision Center

  • Renovating the former Collision Center and Auto-Plex Used Cars facility into the new Tom Bush BMW dealership

  • Relocating Tom Bush Mazda to the vacated BMW building, providing separate facilities for the Mazda and Volkswagen brands
