Stages of Quality Control
Planning & Design
Ensures that the project is feasible, the plans and specifications are accurate and complete, and the needed materials/equipment meet the required standards.
Preconstruction
Ensures that the site is prepared properly, that all necessary permits and approvals have been obtained, and that the materials/equipment used in the project are the correct quality and meet the required standards.
Construction
Ensures that the work is done according to the plans and specifications, that the materials/equipment used meet the required standards, and that the workmanship is of the required standard.
Completion
Ensures that the finished project meets the client's requirements and that the work has been completed according to the plans and specification.
Post-Construction
Ensures that the building is safe and meets the required standards.
The Three Phases of Quality
The Preparatory Phase is essentially a preconstruction meeting for starting work on an upcoming milestone that involves the objective of this phase is to achieve first-time quality by defining verification methods and reduction of costly problems.
Now that the Quality Control Plan is put in place, the purpose of the Initial Phase is to monitor the first representation of completed work, checkin if project requirements are being met.
The purpose of the Follow-Up Phase is to ensure that quality is maintained through to completion, whether this be through daily reports and/or inspections.
