Ronald H. Foster, Sr Inducted into UF Construction Hall of Fame
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 9, 2017) — Stellar founder Ronald H. Foster, Sr. has been inducted into the University of Florida’s M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management Construction Hall of Fame. A ceremony held on October 7, honored Foster’s achievements during his 40 years in the construction industry, 25 of which were spent leading Stellar, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide.
Each year since 1982, the school has inducted into the Hall of Fame a graduate of its Bachelor of Science in Construction Management program who has “truly distinguished themselves” in the profession. Past honorees include some of the most prominent names in construction, both in the United States and globally. Each inductee is given a bronze plaque on the Hall of Fame’s wall in the University of Florida’s Rinker Hall.
“This is a tremendous and much-deserved honor, and we congratulate Ron on being named to the Hall of Fame,” said Mike Santarone, President and Chief Operating Officer. “It recognizes his 40-year career in construction during which he became one of the country’s leading figures in the sector.”
In 1985, Foster founded Stellar in Jacksonville, Florida, with a team of only 12 people and year-one revenues of $10 million. Today, the company has nearly 50 support locations in the United States, Puerto Rico, South and Central America, the Middle East, North Africa, India and China. It employs more than 800 people and has annual revenues exceeding $800 million. One of Florida’s largest privately held companies, Stellar is consistently ranked by Engineering News Record as one of the country’s top 25 design-build companies and among the top 100 contractors in the United States.
Now retired, Foster has passed the successful company on to its next generation of leadership. He lives with his wife Beverly on a 2,000-acre ranch in St. Augustine, Florida. They frequently organize premier horse shows and clinics. Foster also continues to run the Star 4 Mitigation Bank, which he founded in 2008. It is one of the largest wetland mitigation banks in the region, providing state, federal and private developers with the required wetland credits to fuel infrastructure and private projects.
