Stellar Group Inc. is building the three-story building on the north end of the campus at a construction cost of $20 million. 

The 115,000-square-foot plant produces and packages ready-to-eat hard boiled eggs

United States Cold Storage has opened a $35 million food distribution facility in Laredo, Texas. Stellar, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide, designed and built the 232,366-sq-ft warehouse.

Construction of facility began in November 2007. The designers, engineers and project managers for the project was Stellar Construction and Engineering, which won an Excellence in Construction award for the building from the Florida First Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.

Dakota Provisions is a state-of-the-art turkey processing facility set up by Dakota Turkey Growers, a major farmers’ cooperative of 44 independent Hutterite (a religious group similar to the Amish who have adopted modern manufacturing as a way to survive) turkey farmers in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, USA. It is the first full-line turkey facility to be built in the US since the late 1980s.

United States Cold Storage’s has opened its new food warehouse in Laredo. Stellar designed and built the 232,366-square-foot warehouse that will distribute a variety of produce goods, including strawberries and avocados.

The new facility has insulated panels and an interstitial space located above each of the process areas for accommodating the mechanical and electrical systems. Stellar Group provided the engineering design and architectural services for the plant.

The facility opened properly in early 2009 (following test runs and commissioning of equipment late in 2008). The 117,000ft² plant required an investment of $70m and was awarded silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) status from the US Green Building Council for its use of recycled materials and commitment to energy and water conservation.

The $9.7 million facility supports service members who work on the base’s flightline.
